Plans made in autumn 2025 are becoming reality on the factory floor: Okun Hammaspyörä Oy has begun installing a new DMG MORI CTX gamma 3000 TC turn-mill center. The investment is a concrete next step in the group's 2025–2027 production technology modernisation programme, in which a new robot cell is already in production use.
Turning and milling on a single machine
The CTX gamma 3000 TC is a 5-axis turn-mill center that combines turning and milling on one machine. It machines workpieces up to 630 mm in diameter and 3,050 mm long — and completes them on all six sides in a single setup. The mill-turn spindle is mounted on the B-axis, and the compactMASTER spindle delivers up to 220 Nm of torque.
In practice, long and demanding components — shafts, gear racks and complex rotationally symmetric parts — are produced from start to finish on the same machine without re-clamping. This reduces setup times, improves dimensional accuracy and shortens lead times.
Part of the 2025–2027 investment programme
The new machine continues Okun Hammaspyörä's EU co-funded investment programme aimed at modernising production technology and increasing capacity. The previously commissioned robot cell automates part handling; the CTX gamma 3000 TC is the programme's next major step, expanding the group's ability to take on larger and more demanding machining work.
What it means for customers
The investment increases Okun Hammaspyörä's machining capacity and precision. Six-sided complete machining in a single setup improves geometric accuracy and repeatability, and enables the manufacture of longer and more complex parts with competitive lead times. The group's customers in the energy, marine and machine-building industries benefit directly from the increased capability.

Investments in production technology continue as planned. The goal is more flexible, more accurate and more efficient production that meets customers' growing requirements.
