Okun Hammaspyörä Oy, part of the NS Group, has launched an investment project aimed at modernising its production technology and increasing manufacturing capacity during 2025–2027.
Production development
The investment focuses on renewing production machinery and methods. The new equipment will significantly reduce the number of manufacturing steps, improving both productivity and product quality. Increased automation also enables unmanned production during night and weekend shifts.
The investment strengthens Okun Hammaspyörä's position as a specialist in rack bar and pillar manufacturing. The goal is to significantly increase production capacity and improve dimensional accuracy to meet growing customer requirements.
Project progress
The investment project is progressing as planned — approximately one third of the project has been completed. New automation and robotic cell solutions are already in production use.
EU co-funded project
The project has received funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the Innovative and Skilled Finland 2021–2027 programme. The funding authority is the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment for South Savo.
Growth and new jobs
Through this investment, the company aims to increase revenue and create new jobs in Outokumpu. The project also supports the company's internationalisation goals and expansion into European markets.
